Agree....the ball did bounce, but it could have bounced from the webbing of Davis's glove, not the ground. Definitely a close call and the discussion Coach had with the umps had to be that the ump between second and third called that play an out, while the home plate guy called the runner safe. That had to be what Coach was arguing about.
The base ump called the out. The home plate ump tried to over rule him and he said no catch. Glasco was telling the plate umpire he can't over rule that call and he was like 100 feet away from the play when the base ump was right on top of the play. Replay got the call right.
Agreed, was sitting in outfield, she trapped it.
Glasco had a good argument absent replay, but replay unequivocally confirmed the ball hit the ground before her glove.
Base umpire didn't make the out call until Davis held up the ball like she caught it. She deeked him.
She was throwing gas at the end of the game! Also, if you haven't read the article in the Advocate, Coach commented on how does a team go 20-2 and not get 1 pitcher first team all conference. Same for last year too, when we went 23-4. Sam had a couple of quotes as well:
“They were very aggressive, so I think I quickly learned that I could keep the ball not exactly on the plate and get them swinging,” Landry said. “That took me a few innings to figure out, because at first I was trying to go at them instead of walking them.”
“Without saying much, I think our pitchers are getting a little disrespected in the Sun Belt when it comes to all-conference teams,” Landry said. “I think the past two years not having a single one of our pitchers on first team doesn’t show our results. We’re out here working and we plan to prove them wrong.”
