Thread: Future NIL Controversies

What needs to happen is UL must think out side the box as to something as crazy as pitching the Saudi PIF to take over the athletics and take it main stream!! As of now UL will never be able to sustain competition against P-5 without significant financial backing.

My god-son pointed something out last night; are we gonna be looking at 17 year old kids potentially making more than the college professors who are there to fulfill the actual purpose of higher education?

Its one thing for coaches to make upwards of $10 million, but now players are gonna make more than their professors?
I don't think it would be a bad decision for a school like UL to go heavy on MBB and baseball.
Also, I don't know if it's a great idea to sink $60M into a football stadium renovation now considering the future of non-P5 "college" ball.

That ship has sailed. The pre construction inspections and deficiencies are now documented liabilities. We’ll get something renovated or rebuilt at some point. It’s a crap shoot which starts first, the stadium or the actual 49 connector (ROW purchases been happening).

Yep. Blow up the upper deck. Replace it with a tower with some suites and a few rows of premium chair back seating, fill in the hill to make the stadium 25k and call it a day.

I agree with you on this, including the stadium. I am a huge cajuns fan, just like most of you, but all this nil and transfer portal stuff is wearing me down. There will come a time, just like with the nfl, where I say enough and let the auctions continue without me.
