Napiers teams found ways to win over the years while Dez’s first team found ways to lose. Yeah a few plays here and there would have changed both teams records. Well, Billy Napier didn't find a way to beat Coastal Carolina 31-28 a team in transition in 2018. He got smoked the last 2 games of the season, 30-19 against App. State and Tulane 41-24 in the bowl game. All 3 games were embarrassments.

I'm willing to give Des a chance to prove he can coach better results. He may not get the Cajuns back in the Top 25, but hopefully he can contend for the conference championship in most seasons.

The championship game against app state in Napier’s first year certainly wasn’t an embarrassment. The game was nip and tuck the whole way. The other two I’ll give you. Having said that hopefully Dez follows in Napier‘s footsteps and got all of his bad luck out of the way in year one.

With all that happened last off season I just don’t see how this year won’t be better. The O line should be light years better if they remain healthy. I suspect he will choose a starter at QB and go with a guy this year. One concern at that position and if Ben will be ready to go. If Ben and chandler are both healthy the Cajuns will have 2 of the most experienced back ups ever.

To be Clear I didn’t say they were the same, I said people don’t realize just how close both teams were to a 9/10 win season. Tulane was 2-10 before winning the cotton bowl the following year, we haven’t missed any boat. The boat actually isn’t even here yet.

I agree, last season was a disappointment, but the amount of upheaval in the offseason is difficult to overlook. Another .500 season would be difficult to understand, assuming no major injuries.
