You are the 2nd person to claim that. It's a little startling how quickly people forget the truth...or just choose to ignore it.
Nicholls: 3 point win. Lindsey dominated us that entire game. He doesn't gift us with a pick 6 we lose.
South Alabama: Missed 37 yard field goal gave us the game.
Ark State: Beat a 1-6 football team by a whopping 1 point. Needed a 99 yard TD run and needed a 10+ minute drive to ice it.
Georgia State: Rushed for 200+ yards on us at home and could've won the game if Elliot doesn't abandon the run too early.
It doesn't take anything away from Billy Napier and his legacy here to acknowledge the fact that he was without out a doubt the most fortunate coach we have had in the last 30+ years.
2 field goal misses against "the program we should never lose to" away from OT in one game and a loss in the other. Billy had 4 years here and gave us one dominant win over the Warhawks.
Have we forgotten the shanked field goal to get us our first win over App State? Needing a 53 yard field goal from a guy who couldn't hit 30 yarders to beat Ga Southern?
The only reason to add TJ Finley to the program is depth. He will graduate from Auburn this month and have 1 yr. of eligibility left. I doubt seriously if Wooldridge will be cleared to play by the beginning of the season and we don't know if Fields has lingering questions about his recovery. He adds experience and depth to the roster, and he is from Louisiana.
Now I've seen nothing that suggest he is coming to UL for a visit, or if we are in consideration. There are a number of graduate QBs hitting the portal, but he would make sense considering he is a Louisiana native.
Napiers teams found ways to win over the years while Dez’s first team found ways to lose. Yeah a few plays here and there would have changed both teams records. Call it luck or whatever, Napiers teams delivered. Dez’s lone team hasn’t. Also leave my uncle Sue out of this. Didn’t you learn anything from Johnny Cash??
The 13-1 team was very close to having several more losses. The 6-7 team last year was very close to having several more wins. Billy was the luckiest SOB to ever put on a headset for the Cajuns. Again...this doesn't change his legacy, and I'm not sure how that equates to saying 13-1 and 6-7 are the same.
Des coached himself out of several wins last year. Anybody remember Nape's first year here? Coastal comes to our place and beats us because of Billy playing revolving door at QB.
