8 of the 12 teams in the top 101. Impressive for the conference. Of course the 4 best teams are in the West. East teams need to get better. Need to be at 4-0 this week.

The East desperately needs to improve their scheduling, and it wouldn't hurt most in the West to do so as well.

    Non-Conference SOS for SBC East
    GaSo 102
    CCU 187
    JMU 215
    GaSt 221
    APP 246
    MU 278

    Non-Conference SOS for SBC West
    UL 2
    TxSt 47
    USA 97
    Troy 126
    ULM 165
    USM 269

Given the general quality of programs in the SBC, any team having a non-conference SOS of worse than around 150 [and all should try for 100 or better] is hurting themselves and the rest of the SBC.

That’s a big negatory on a Wednesday night. Not a good midweek(or any day)road trip.

I would favor eliminating East and West divisions in all Sunbelt sports. This is especially true in football where the top 2 teams in the conference earn their way to the championship game.

There is no official divisional split in softball. My division was for convenience,as fans generally identify according to the football divisions.

That’s true, but it obviously does affect scheduling in softball where we only play a few teams in the east.

Speaking of the importance of non-conference SOS:

There are currently 12 non P5 schools in the Top 50 RPI. All but 3 have non-conference SOS in the top 40. Four have non-conference SOS in the top 10. Eight are in the top 25 in non-conference SOS. Only McNeese [61] and South Alabama [97] are outside the top 50.

For those who complain about the SBC dragging down the RPI of its better members; as of games through yesterday, EVERY school in the SBC except UL has improved their RPI over OOC numbers since beginning conference play, and UL stayed the same [at 10].

Which 7 teams below LOUISIANA in RPI will bump them as a regional host?
