NO NO NO AND NO. What this program needs at this point is to go out and find a "Real" college pitching coach with a good track record and PAY the man. Don't look for the easy way out regarding convenience or money. You wanna be big time, go get and pay a real pitching coach. It's a damn shame with our current offense that can explosive at times has to bare all the burden.

Was Des the easy way out? UL still runs off the USL system of keeping most hires somewhat local.

A pretty good one was recently let go at Ball State.

Being let go in the middle of the season does raise a red flag though.

I made a mistake and got the names mixed up, but I corrected it. I was thinking about Thibodeaux.

IMO, it was absolutely positively the easy way out.

College baseball is a small world, as you know. The coaching carousel will pick up speed in June. Pitching coaches will be in high demand. Pitching sucks everywhere.

    Man, ain’t that the truth.

I guess the question is, will we be in the market for one?

I always knew we had one of the best pitching coaches in the country. Its really starting to look like we had one of the best to ever do it.

Robe wasn't signing borderline proball guys out of high school. They knew how to pitch, but he made them winners. Bab and John Szecf went out and dug up most of them. Robe found some guys too. I heard he found Moody at a Notre Dame game Jut was in.

I really hope, at some point, some guys that throw strikes, can get fastballs in on guys hands, and throw breaking balls and/or change ups down and away (depending on handedness) can be found….basically STARTING pitchers that aren’t out there with the goal of striking out every hitter they face.

Until that happens, it will be more of the same.

*this is about the Cajuns, but currently holds true at pretty much every college baseball program in D1

93-96 with a great breaking ball is all well and good (1) in the bullpen, and (2) if those pitches can be located with any consistency
