    UL Baseball Theut

Did Theut leave game with injury, if so, any word on the extent of injury

Overuse, he is coming back from a back injury and didn't prep his arm properly. Pitch count numbers that look like very little on paper were too much for his arm. He is a victim of unbalanced rehab.

    Yes / No

My guess.....my son just had his 2nd Tommy John with the Tx Rangers surgeon on Monday. so have a little experience here. Need a couple days rest to let any swelling subside. If any issues (aka pain or discomfort) an MRI will happen soon. From that point it could be minor issue and back to normal or up to a TJ.....won't know anything til then

58 low stress pitches is no where close to overuse. It's less than any recovering pitcher's bullpen sessions that would have been happening for multiple weeks prior to yesterday.

If he is in a sling, not good news

The nationwide focus on throw harder, throw harder, THROW HARDER, instead of focusing on pitch location is a contributing factor to arm injuries and the increase in hit batsmen.

What level ball does your son play?

The college coaches that embrace strike throwers will be viewed as rebellious pioneers and quickly mimicked for their success.

Just curious but you said 58 low stress pitches. How does one consider any in-game pitching low stress?

Even for a full TJ.....sling typically not needed til after surgery. Arm will likely be soar today but for some pitchers.....they won't know elbow is possibly damaged til you try to throw again in next bullpen session.

Few baserunners. Few 3 ball counts. Theut was flat out on point dominating a top 10 hitting team.
