He got through the first three innings in 45 pitches which is a good pitch count under any circumstances for three innings of work.
He got out the the 4th inning with 5 pitches
Again, he was dealing and in a low pitch count for 4 innings pitched.
He got out of the 5th inning with 12 pitches which put him at a 12.4 pitch per inning for the outing
Under these circumstances I believe one would be hard pressed to find a coach that was going to be pulling him before 5 innings of work.

You're opinion would be valid 99.9% of the time but we have a different dynamic at play. A medical staff, a coaching staff and player that focused solely on his back rehab and didn't give his arm the 100% focus a healthy player would normally give it. Small numbers mean nothing if you aren't physically ready. His arm wasn't ready.
Well then that’s on the medical staff.
He’s either ready to play or he’s not. They don’t release guys to play, but only a little.
And do we know that his back hasn’t been better for a couple weeks while they were readying the arm for action??
Injuries happen. One did last night. That’s it.
Welp. That's it
