Interesting take. Hope it works out for them.
If they can police the crowd/individuals after ejection, it can work.
Since moving back too Louisiana I have enjoyed watching my 9 year old daughter play park softball and 10 year old godson play travel league baseball.
A lot of these parents and coaches are WAY too vested in the outcome of the games. The umpire ends up taking the brunt of it.
It is almost an added bonus knowing that at some point in the game a parent or coach is going to have an heated argument with the umpire over a call….at a 9/10 year old game.
I will say this, it gets better as they get older. There's rarely any arguments or even discussions with umpires in our 13U games because the coaches are focused on preparing their players for high school. For our games, we mostly have LHSAA and/or SunBelt umpires. Even the parents (most of them) are much calmer as the players get older.
