Deggs sounded unfazed in his postgame interview. Talked about "weathering the storm." I get wanting to not panic, but we tilt to the other extreme IMO where we almost come off too nonchalant. That mentality has been a concern of mine ever since we slept walked through High Point. We are just way too comfortable with playing inconsistent baseball.
Theut and Debarge are out, but c'mon man. 15 free passes in a Friday night game is not being "in the midst of a storm." Neither is hitting 4 guys in 1 inning. Neither is striking out 12+ times in each of the first two games of a series against a team where pitching isn't their strong suit. We have played the type of ball that will not get you wins against tough competition for the vast majority of this season. I understand trusting the process, but at some point, accountability and holding yourself to a standard have to come in to play.
Be careful what you wish for. Burning Rawls on a Friday night and losing 1-0, 2-1 is the makings for a sweep. We can’t hit good pitching at this point. Would hate to kill our chances at a Saturday or Sunday win that way. Just playing a bit of devils advocate here. I do not think Hammond is the Friday guy.
With everyone healthy I do this
Rawls-McGehee-Nezuh
Hammond/moody first out of the pen
3B - Marusak
2B- taylor
Ss- Debarge
C- Brock
Cf- Rocco
Rf- hood
Lf- Higgs
1B- zambo/Lejeune platoon
DH- robichaux
I was able to catch game 3 but would someone mind updating me on Debarge so I don't have to dig in the threads please.
Our problem is not they guys that are out even though Debarge is one of them. I truely believe that. There is plenty enough talent to win with any combination of players. We just not doing it for whatever reason. We have won with these players all year. So for me, I dont buy into what Deggs is selling. Is it a little bit tougher? Yes. Would Debo lengthen the lineup a little? Yes. Would Theut give is more depth on mound ? Yes.
