Somehow we are tied with ODU for Sun Belt lowest team ERA at 4.15. That is about a run higher than the best pitching seasons in the past 20 years.

It's still best in the league, but will get tested in the meat of the conference part of the schedule, starting tomorrow at 4pm.

3 way tie with Coastal and ODU. We are at or near the top of a bunch stats.

This is the kind of stuff that lays the foundation for mediocrity. We are not playing good baseball and haven’t played consistently good baseball for a long time. We got hot in the tourney. We had Bo Bonds lose his mind against TCU and hit early bombs. We emptied the tank against A&M behind hero performances from ROBE recruits. I’m not taking that away from anyone. But why do we focus on the few moments rather than the body of work?

We returned the heart and soul of our ball club. Added “starting” pitching. We have MLB talent at SS, RF, C and maybe CF. Who have we beaten that makes you raise your eyebrows? Campbell on a Sunday when they had already punk’d us Friday and Saturday?

We have an extremely weak SOS for the year so far and I don’t think our record reflects where we should be in terms of success.

As far as the conference, who have we played? And awful Arkansas State team, an awful South Al team (we lost a game there), and we lost the series to App State. And now on the ropes against Troy after getting slapped around AT HOME.

And remember we don’t see postseason play last year if it wasn’t for those 3 games in May. This is not a program who should have to win conference tourneys. I expect this program to receive at large bids…and win the tourney of course.
