UL is now one of the top 100 Research universities in the country at #99. We are 3rd in Louisiana, I assume behind LSU and Tulane. But, that should put us well ahead of other LA universities including LA Tech and UNO. ULM should not even be mentioned in the same sentence. Just another feather in UL's cap as The University of Louisiana.
Actually, we're third in state behind LSU Baton Rouge and LSU Health Sciences Center. So that kind of makes us 2nd in research for public universities in the state.
When traveling out of state, it is especially gratifying to hear people talk about the great research that is being done at UL. It seems to be all anyone ever talks about in places like Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, etc. What was it again that we discovered with this research? Seriously, it is a good thing to be recognized for doing well in something. It's just that no one outside of Lafayette will notice or care. LSU homers live their entire lives believing that people outside of Louisiana, specifically Baton Rouge, give a rats rear end about what goes on at LSU. It's simply not true.
