That was rough.

Debarge pinch ran last night. That coupled with Deggs' comments means he is close. That is the good news.
For the back half of the year, we will be set up the middle after the emergence of John Taylor. Brock, Debo, Taylor, Rocco should play every day up the middle.
I'm also buying the Marusak resurgence. Lock him in every day at 3B. Bat is coming around and defense has been great all year.
Hood obviously plays every day. DH is Robichaux's until he stops being an on-base machine.
That leaves us with 7 of 9 spots in our lineup filled every day.
LF: Veillion has looked much better the past few weeks. Still wouldn't mind platooning Higgs against RHP - his first two at-bats last night were really solid. Maybe Yuhasz works in once in a while too.
1B: At this point I trust Zambo more than CJ. CJ had a real stinker last night, start to finish. Only caveat here is I don't think either of them are really healthy. Maybe we start letting Lejeune play more 1B and try to get his bat hot. A guy like Amadee can fill in here too.
All that sets up to be one of the top lineups in the Sun Belt in my opinion. And if our pitchers pitch like they did against Marshall, we will continue to win a lot of games even as the schedule heats up. If we play like we did last night see y'all in 2024.
Higgs needs to play everyday left field until he proves he can't. It is inexplicable as to why this hasn't happened yet.
The unnecessary risks we still take on the base paths is so gosh damn infuriating. What do you gain by telling Robie to go to second on the grounder to SS right there? Robe is probably the fastest guy on the team. He's already in scoring position with one of your best hitters coming to the plate. He'll score on anything out of the infield. Nope, let's run ourselves out of yet ANOTHER inning.
The stats can say what they want. We have an inconsistent ball club. Deggs says "this team just loves to play." That may be true, but they certainly show up lackadaisically in a lot of games. After a really fun win against Nech, this one leaves a bad taste. All around bad.
Anyone know with the rain looking bad for Saturday if there are plans for double header being scheduled against Troy?
Been trying to say this and not many want to hear it.
Something else I thought about last night/this morning. How many HBP and walks have we given up in the 1st or 2nd inning of a pitcher's outing? Are we getting mentally prepared in the bullpen or just throwing to loosen up?
Quick look on last night alone was 5 hit by pitch and 2 walks by Tate and Christie in the first 3 innings. 1+ inning for each. I'm not going to take the time to look at play by play for every game but it does seem like lots of 1st innings have involved free bases and guys coming out of the pen go right to free bases. Is preparation prior to taking the mound something that could be looked at?
Look on the bright side. I lost all of my brain cells reading the mascot thread, so I can't even be mad about last night anymore
