UL (est. 1898) grew up around the pond. Initially the university fenced it in to use as a pig pen and feeding area for its instructional farm. In the early 1920s, the pig pen was drained to return the 63 cypress trees into the newly named Cypress Grove. The university used the grove as an open-air theater for Shakespearean productions, music and dance programs. Commencement exercises were held beneath the cypress canopy in 1935 for the first time and several subsequent years when the weather permitted.

In the early 1940s, some agriculture faculty members proposed converting the grove back into a pond, because they were concerned a lack of water could harm the cypress trees. A pump was installed, the pond was refilled, and Cypress Grove became Cypress Lake.
At least you are getting closer to reality.

    Prehistoric times, not man made.

They called it a pond because in the early 1900s "Swamp" was deemed taboo for then educated woke folk.

So I guess installing a pump to fill it with water isn’t ‘man-made’ in your world. But carry on.

I stated in two separate posts "Re-flooded.

I stated in one post why the water disappeared.

Until your claim of "man made" ecological restoration had never before been called such.

Fact is, Alligators have been in this Bull Hole turned Swamp as long as the bull.

I've always thought a crawfish might be a good mascot. Maybe a badass crawdad with muscles lol. Here are some 'so,so' costumes. I'd like to see some professionally drafted concepts.

A significant rise in odds that we could be on College Gameday soon like Coastal and App State. With Cajun Field in the background, the Quad, the Swamp (which Lafman says doesnt exist - we'll see) we should probably get us a mascot.

    1. Bulldog
    2. Crawfish
    3. Alligator
    4. Don't Tread on Me Snake
    5. Catahoula
    6. Cajun Chicken
    7. Cajun Man
    8.
    ...

Of course there are more suggestions but these are I'll can remember right now.

We narrow it down to a Final Four. Scratch off two and the last two are both made official. Through time, Acadiana will pick its' favorite of the two(2).

Hell yea I'd be down with a Gator. But. Its crazy how tied to UF its become.

Resolution: Since this is a very important subject due to the unbelievable rise in odds that we could be on College Gameday soon like Coastal and App State were, we need to build something now. Top 2 options like Auburn with the War Eagle and the Tiger. Those two (2) picked from a field of four, we'll call em' the Final Four -

    1. Bulldog (our University Athletics Identity going back to 1921)
    2. Crawfish
    3. Alligator - Red, Green, Blue.....
    4. The Snake on the Metallica Black Album (Not kidding either).

I believe coming up the Final Four is a step in the right direction to getting this done correctly.

And, two (2) wild cards: they get enough votes, they could un-seed a Final Four candidate.

Let's Geaux. Let's make this happen.
UL's most recent win in baseball was against the Bulldogs. I think that's why we abandoned it. that and we couldn't keep them alive. Same problem LaTech is having.

Which ‘swamp’ are you referring to?
