Still loving Al, especially it being the bird-in-hand, but a red catahoula dog in the style of George Rodrigue would also be very unique to the university.
Big argument breakthrough. Y’all can use it wherever you see fit.
One of the biggest hurdles for Al beating out Cayenne in the court of public opinion is this claim that Cayenne is unique and Al is not because of Florida. Although I think anamorphic food isn’t unique already, see Mr. Peanut, the biggest debate ended is the Delta State Fighting Okra. He was just on ESPN this year. I did some research. The Fighting Okra was created in 1980. Cayenne wasn’t around until 99-00. He’s not unique anymore because he never was!
Cayenne, essentially, doesn’t have pedestal to stand on anymore.
Trivia:
Who was the UL supporter (and insider) that upon seeing a Cayenne rendition for the very first time stated "This is going to be our penance on earth."

Here’s a link to the first full write up on Albineaux. Very exciting it came from one of Acadiana’s most popular radio stations. The Vermillion might be doing one soon as well. If Al can get on The Advocate or KATC, that’d be huge. But this has been a fantastic start. Even Pete’s loves Al and has put him on their Instagram page.
I haven’t heard anything from the school. No one has. They may be sitting back and waiting. Or they may be trying to weather the hype storm and hopes this blows over. Regardless, Al is winning right now. The fans that have wanted a mascot for years are winning.
Great day to be a Cajun!
