Literally, never had that happen to me. EVERY time I have talked to someone visiting from out of the state, the first thing they ask me is where should they eat.

I never said it was first utterance, and eating is a daily requirement, so the two are not mutually exclusive.

My mom is from Nebraska and this was a universal inquiry from my many cousins through the years. Even as teenagers from cousins who never made it to Louisiana.

Right. It is so rare to find they bring all they can find to zoos and other types of captivity when they are found. Outside of LA and maybe FLA no one knows that albino gators exist. I am sure we will be called the White Gators often. Well ASE does have a Blue Gator for a mascot.

They are most often rendered green in drawings but really don't look green to me. Do they call them Green Gators often?

They look Greenish to me. If I had to paint one a shade of green would be in the color scheme.

I see shades of green. Even the little bit of pigmentation that shows up on the albinos is very green.

Verified, but I've never heard anyone refer to them as "Green Gators" so your "White Gator" projection is probably without merit.

Catahoula all the way. Great opportunity to teach the other 49 states why its 100% unique to Louisiana.

.....local kids can dress up as his pet crawfish with our mascot Catahoula. Would make for some fun skits for basketball games.

The term 'Fighting Tigers' didnt come from a mascot search to find a scary animal to represent LSU A&M.....it was the name of a Confederate brigade from Louisiana that earned a reputation that fiercely fought to keep the Confederacy in place.

The rare leucistic white alligators (Alligator mississippiensis) are even more breathtaking. They’ve been described as ethereal, ghostly and, most frequently, beautiful. They have translucent white skin and deep blue eyes with a hint of pigmentation splashed here and there. Leucism is a rare condition not to be confused with albinism, which results in pink eyes and no pigmentation at all.

Well you don't call them green gators because of redundancy. It would be like calling you a male, man. No one calls a basketball the orange basketball. They say basketball and you assume orange. Same with brown football or white baseball. If AES didn't call themselves the blue gators and just gators all would assume green.

Curious? This may have been answered but I missed it. What is the reason for a albino (white) gator and not just a traditional gator as we find in the swamps of Louisiana?
