Guys I’ve been traveling a ton as I transition from one job to another. I’ve noticed Kyle Debarge has not been in the lineup in a while. What is the story. Is he expected back soon. Granted we are winning without him. But we are gonna need him.

I believe he broke a hamate bone in his hand, a common baseball injury from hitting.
Normal recovery time is six weeks.

Deggs said it was a hamate bone break. As Dad04 said, that’s a common hitter’s injury. The bone is in the palm pad area of the hand, is useless, and is completely removed via surgery. And it’s usually a month recovery at minimum, although Deggs said he expected him back “in a couple weeks”, and that it happened in BP during the week following the S. Al series I think he said the surgery was on March 29.
I would guess he’ll miss this coming weekend and probably the next. After that, who knows?
Deggs said in his presser that Debarge got his stitches removed and that we will likely see him this week in some capacity. That’s a very quick turn around.
It may be just as a pinch runner or maybe some late inning defense. Either way, it’ll be good to get him back in such a short time frame.
