Are we watching the same player? Everything he does is in slow motion to me. I believe it was Saturday against App, while Rocco got the error, a poor throw set the tone for the game and they gave a hit on a one hopper that he basically got out of the way of a couple innings later. It looked like he would have rather been anywhere but at Russo that day. That may be why he was pulled.

I get it, Deggs is trying to get him going. But batting third? LOL
I thought that as well. Maybe spark him up. He does the same with Max. Lead off one game then a 9 hole. Max looks like a high school kid trying to hit a mature D1 pitcher. Just looks bad at the plate.

He falls back on every swing, creating an upper cut that either hits a popup or beats the ball into the ground 40 feet from the plate. Watch Carson, Ben, Lucroy anybody who can hit. They all swing level with a relatively "quiet" head.

So here is the question really. Max and Will were both good bats for us last year. Took them a little will to get it figured out as it does most juco bats. But at end of the season we could not win without them. Now this year, neither have shown up offensively with more protection in the lineup around them. One year wonders or is there more to it.

I think it's two different scenarios - Will has had a hole in his swing that is being exploited now. I think Max is in his own head. There was some talk about how moving to the infield was where he projected better for the draft. Are there tweaks to his swing that "project better" that were made? I don't care if he's holding the bat backwards, if he's getting on base and wreaking havoc, leave him alone!

He does his interview with the media on Monday's where he is "professional."

It's sports. It's an emotional game. And again, not that serious to complain about. Especially when maybe 25 people were listening on 103.3 post-game interview.
A lot of us have played sports our whole lives. A lot of us coach. We've all had emotional moments. At no point did I say he needed to be politically correct or a robot. I don't care about Saban and no, Robe did not have a habit of shunning the interviews. Deggs does. Happens often. Also "tipping" pitches is a damn copout answer at this point. That can't always be the answer.

Show some respect one of the FEW media outlets that still give a ____ about this program. The amount of listeners are irrelevant. I'll say again, there is a reason why this team is up and down. It ain't physical.

Agree. Also Rocco. 16 HR last year and now he as 1. Thats a big difference.

I've seen several times where he leaves his load leg way too early and gets out in front. Whatever the case, the timing is way off.

Veilion got hot down the stretch, but he was not a consistent hitter through the year. Max was not healthy the majority of the season after Stanford.

This year, Veilion hasn't been healthy all year and Max is in his head. I think it's that simple. Also, Max struggled with people coming for his job at Texas Tech. Could it be that it's happening again with Robie pressing for the leadoff job and ultimately winning it? It's possible to me.

It is so not pretty to watch. He is moving all over.

    1. If you want to put that error on Willis instead of Rocco, then no, we aren't watching the same game.
    2. I was in a much better mood when Willis hit a 3 run home run than I am now after the game.
    3. I'm not super high on Willis as a player, I don't think he's an every day guy for us. That said, yes, he does play with a smile on his face. I do think he plays hard, and, he's played through injury for us since he got here.

Willis also has a bad strain in his back that regular gets reaggravated. He showed you early in the year that he can be a weapon in the bottom of the lineup. He's a key piece that I hope can get healthy.
