    SAN MARCOS, Tx./AUSTIN, Tx. – They may not have competed in many events on Thursday, but the Louisiana track and field team was well represented at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas and the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

    In San Marcos, Luke Benoit is third halfway through the decathlon with 3,376 points. Benoit started the day with a first place finish in the 100-meter dash. He also finished second in the 400-meter and third in the shot. In the women's pole vault, Cameron Martinez and Jordan Brown finished tied for sixth after completing their vault of 3.60 meters on the first try. In the men's pole vault, Trey Boucher and Timothy Gale tied for sixth as well for completing their vault of 4.85 meters.

    Courtney Wiltz closed the day at the Bobcat Invitational with a ninth place showing in the women's long jump while Taylor Walls finished 12th. Wiltz's second jump of 5.67 meters was her longest while Walls jumped 5.60 meters.

    Roughly 30 minutes to the north the Ragin' Cajuns had a duo compete in the women's 400-meter hurdles and two in the men's event. Moseisha Bridgen and Ta'La Spates continued to impress with sub one minute times, just the fifth and sixth instance in program history. They finished 0.003 seconds apart with Bridgen crossing the finish line with a time of 59.494 and Spates clocked in at 59.497. Bridgen's time was 20th overall and Spates placed 21st in one of the most elite events in the country.

    On the men's side of the 400-meter hurdles, Javed Jones came in 13th place with a time of 51.60 seconds. Nathan Fergusson placed 15th with his time of 51.69 seconds. Each placed fourth in their respective heats.

    To put those times in perspective, Jones' time of 51.60 is almost a full second slower than Sydney McLaughlin's women's world record of 50.68!
