Now someone tell me that it can’t happen here. That G5 basketball is dead in the south. That we should lower our expectations and be realistic.
No more excuses.

Interesting side bar, the ADs at Kansas State and FAU are brothers. Their dad was Duke’s AD at one time. Not an excuse, just saying they learned well.
UCONN (multiple titles) Big East
Texas Big 12
Gonzaga WCC
SDSU MWC
Miami ACC
Creighton Big East
50/50 split public/private in the 6 left
FAU C-USA public.
Either FAU, Creighton or San Diego St. will be in the national championship game. How about that! A non P5 school will play for the NCAA basketball championship.
But….ItS hArD tO wIn in cOlLeGe BaSkEtBalL
*eye roll*
When I saw that, well, how will the powers that be address that going forward. Hoping that SDSU wins, a unicorn in the final. A public, non power conference team in the final if SDSU/FAU meet.
Last time…Memphis 2008 (lost). Others who lost were Utah (1998), Memphis (1973) and Cincinnati (1963) just to list the last few.
UNLV is the last non power, public university to win a final; was in 1990. Prior to that was UTEP (1966). Cincinnati won in 1961 and 1962. CCNY (1950) rounds out post WW2 public, non power conference winners.
History says approximately every 30 years. It’s time.

Hoot hoot
Geaux, Owls! Never had a beef with FAU and actually enjoyed their time in the SBC.
FAU needs to be invited back to the SBC. We need a footprint in Florida.
Tell me how I’m wrong.
We should EXPECT to field a team competitive enough to get a top 10 bracket seed.
Consistently being a 12-16 seed is not a recipe for success.
We need the following in order to accomplish.
- New MBK HC
- Stronger out of conference schedule with two premier home games (I.E. Houston, LSU, Memphis)
- Strong N.I.L for three highly ranked players similar to J. Brown/Orien Green
- Better marketing and fan engagement.
