You know...I didn't want to come off as a bad guy here, and maybe I would have worded it a bit different, but yeah, as some JayBird used to like to say, you and I are fishing in the same hole.
I don't follow twitter, but seeing "adult male fans" from comment with their dribble on Facebook news postings (KATC, Advocate) when some 17 year old decides not to attend their school of choice gives quite a cringy feeling.
Texas doesn't have a bunch of LSU grades in the legislature who retrospectively made laws after the name change in 83. They made some very petty laws governing the name thing for that exact reason. Apparently if we call our self UL or The University of Louisiana, LSU will lose it's flagship status. Very insecure bunch over in BR.
Ok you added to the equation and upped the ante.
If Louisiana Goes around proclaiming "University of Louisiana" in every academic utterance it will raise some hackles with beak.
However if academics runs around proclaiming "Louisiana" as a self reference the opposition is truly toothless.

They use UL Lafayette as part of the browser address, but 71 is correct in that they have UL Ragin Cajuns as the dropdown and appear to use that in their articles. The tab title is "UL Sports".
This is my stance on this subject. I don’t mind being known as UL-Lafayettte academically, there are plenty of schools that use it as a signature, like Berkeley. In case y’all didn’t know Berkeley is California athletically.
I am fine with UL-L moniker academically, just sports needs to shine and will be known as Louisiana as a whole .
