First guy was far from wild tonight. One walk and 57 pitches thru 4. And 95-96 with a hammer is “decent stuff”?
The lefty that threw started 15 games last year for VCU (5-3 with a 3.60 ERA, and was 8-2 with 5 saves the year before). VCU was a 42 win team that was in a regional. And Harris was their opening game starter and beat Georgia.
Cajuns out hit Miss State 10-7 tonight.
Left them loaded once, 2nd and 3rd once and had corners with 1 out for the Marusak “auto strike” situation…and didn’t score. That was the game.
Meanwhile State scored one of their runs with a man at 3rd on a swinging bunt.
This was definitely a winnable game. But there were a lot of positives.
Again, they won’t see pitching like that very often from this point forward.
We mustered up 4 hits against midweek SWAC pitching. Not saying we can’t hit. Not saying we won’t. However, we have been held in check by McNeese, High Point, and Jackson State pitching in games this season. I’m not gonna assume the bats will come around just because of the level of arms in the SBC. This team has work to do.
They got 10 hits tonight. Just couldn’t get one at the right time(s). It’s been an issue this season and the one thing that’s keeping this team from being really good…in my opinion.
And a lot of that works itself out. Zambo was really close to a game tying 3-run HR. Announcers said with any others days’ wind it’s a HR. It was blowing in from right today. (That also saved a 3-run HR for Miss State tonight).
Those things usually even themselves out over the course of a season. But it’s cost a few games this year so far…tonight being one
Cmon dude. We had 10 hits. 5 of them hit gloves and bounced our way.
Zambo hit a ball in the gap. Hit it maybe 335. Announcers are idiots, the flags were blowing left to right. Never had a chance to get out. Would have been a loud out at the Tigue too.
3 balls were hit hard against average pitching. Runners stranded multiple times, which happens, but seems like it happens way too often to us.
Flip side: after we finally find a way to get A RUN, we go walk, error, double off the wall. It’s frustrating to watch us give up our lunch money time after time.
I was getting some work done before leaving tomorrow morning for Orlando and I completely forgot about this game. Did we run into a bunch of really good arms again? Lol
