Finishing in the top 3 of the SBC this year will be a likely at large bid.

That doesn’t mean the team should strive to finish 3rd. It means that if they do finish that high, which they have a solid chance to do, they will likely be in a regional, which is the goal. And losing a game in late February or early March won’t matter.

And again, I think a lot of people are discounting High Point as a team. Their RPI right now means squat. There’s still 75% of the season left to play and they have played 1/3 of their games in Tuscaloosa and Lafayette.

This time last year, the Cajuns record was 8-7. And the threads were saying all of these same things every time they lost a game. Now this season, it’s 10-5 and there are complaints about wins.

Personally, I enjoy the process, and the wins, while not thinking the season is doomed after a loss…and especially after a win over what some perceive as a terrible team.

Of course, we can agree to disagree.

Add on: as far as “we have beaten nobody yet”. They have literally beaten everybody on the schedule. Every single one of them. And 20% of the teams they have played are ranked in the top 25.
The record at this point last year reflected less wins bc we played better competition. My point, as Robe use to say, with RPI every game matters. And my comment about “we havent beaten anybody” is based on the teams we have played. We have played one team that i think could be a regional type team and thats Campbell. And yes the additions to our conference will definately make it better. Which means we have to get better.

The Cajuns dropped 22 spots in the rpi rankings mainly because they played 3 games against a team that currently has a losing record (6-9) and lost a home game to them. I am in agreement that the rpi rankings don't mean a whole lot right now because we are not even a quarter of the way through the regular season. The NCAA normally doesn't post the rpi this early, so the fluctuation will still be somewhat volatile for about another three weeks.

……I missed the HP game but heard coach’s remarks the next day as he talked about hit balls not finding gaps in the defense…..man that is baseball just being so frustrating…….guess we made great contact on a bunch but right at ‘em!

Tip ya cap. Their crafty lefty guy threw a complete game 109 pitches. The heart of our order went 3 for 19. Ball game.

We show flashes of brilliance, so the potential is there. As always, it boils down to consistency.

Are we sure Rice is no good this year?

8-8 record. Lost 2 to UL, 2 to Texas A&M, 1 to TCU, and 3 to Stanford.

Have a win over Texas Tech and 2 over a pretty good Sam Houston team

    ULM just edged out LTU.

After the football loss over there, I was visiting with one of their fans, he said we need to try to get LTU into the 'Belt.

I explained that was unlikely: the SBC teams haven't forgotten the schools that left the conference, nor have we forgotten ugly comments as they left, and since. I then told him this is ULM's opportunity to surge past LTU, and they should focus on that, instead.

He got really quiet as he thought about that.
