The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will welcome a talented field, which includes the reigning U.S. Amateur champion and 15 of the nation's top 250 players, when it officially tees off the 38th annual Louisiana Classics on Monday at Oakbourne Country Club.
Tuesday's final round will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live results available at GolfStat.com and RaginCajuns.com. The final round will close out for the leaders at the Par-3, No. 9 hole with bleacher seating available.
Per Coach Theo, the environment is meant to replicated the Phoenix Open (Now Waste Management Open) on the 16th hole, with the raucous energy surround the green on the Par 3 9th at Oakbourne. Uncle T's will have food out there, OCC (via Schilling) providing draft beer. If you like golf at all, highly recommend giving it a shot. I know it would mean a lot to the staff and players. And on top of that, we're hosting some serious talent from around the country.
REMINDER
Free Admission

Come out and have some fun.
Grand Stand seating around the 18th (Hole #9 - Par 3). Think Phoenix Open vibes...
I've never been to a UL golf tourney and was wanting to go, but just realized it's taking place during the workday today.
I wish, I will try and make another golf event soon. Thanks for the heads up
I know it was our own home course and we finished +42, but this is the kind of finish I think we should expect from the golf team at every tournament, not 12th of 14 or 11th of 14. They finished 5th out of 14 teams behind 3 ranked teams but ahead of some schools like:
Texas State (Conference mate)
UTSA (Peer Conference)
Michigan (P5 School)
Illinois State
UNO
SMU (AAC School)
NMSU
Denver
La Tech
Today was by far their worst day, had they had similar finishes to the first 2 rounds, they would have finished ahead of LSU.
You're right. I'll add that the conditions today weren't great. Cooled off dramatically early, unstained, gusty, unpredictable winds throughout the day. The Par 3 9th, which served as 18 today, saw a couple of double digit scores and several balls in the water or pulled way left into 1 fairway.
On a brighter note, its obvious to anyone you ask, they were very excited about the turnout. I can't recommend this event enough for people who are into golf. Even took the kids out there and they had fun. I hope they keep the setup exactly the same next year, promote it more and turn this into something big. Take the remnants of the discontinued Louisiana Open and connect them with the Classics. Could explode.
