This is the perfect weekend for the pitching staff to get the ball rolling on come consistency across the board from the starters to the bullpen. Once this weekend passes, it's going to be a full schedule for the next few weeks.
Yes, but that does not necessarily translate to a negative effect on our RPI. A solid record in a bad conference will yield solid dividends for our RPI ... as it directly affects the OWP (2/3 of the SOS). While a team with a low RPI ranking will not help the selection criteria that is Record vs. Top 25/50/75/100 RPI ... how it effects the contribution to your actual RPI is a different matter.
As for BYU ... their OWP contribution to our RPI is .5000 (4-4 record) with a weight of four games. That does not really hurt us. But I want to see them sweep Omaha and not drop a game to Utah Tech.
As for Rice, their OWP contribution (50%) is presently .4000 (4-6) with plenty of softer schedule remaining to bring that up. Their OOWP contribution (25%) is very strong at this time, but will drop as they work their way into conference play.
