Remember the focus on Family practice docs and RNs. I believe that will be focus to get medical school part. Nurse practitioners is also focal pt. Along with increasing overall size of nursing school. This is really important news. There’s going to be a lot of construction work on campus over the next few years.
I would transform the area around Cajun Field with this new acquisition of land.
I would make the entire NEZ parking a development for tailgating. Some sort of Tailgate Villiage. Pave the area across Congress or have a huge parking tower specially if they plan on building the LPAC. Have a bridge that crosses Congress.
Then I would take Bourgeois Park have that all parking and have buses that run from Tailgate village to the area that was Bourgeois Park all day for football games.
I am just spit balling, if I was dreaming there should be a tram that goes from the campus to Cajun Field, it almost connects both campuses together
……the tram idea is a great one and has been around for a good while……I would think there has been added technology and whatever to construction ideas of the past…..I know some on here are capable to put a map of the area and show how a tram could be constructed…..might have a lil eminent domain action needed! This exercise might be fun!
Interestingly, a people mover or tram might be economically feasible. Monorail - no. Per our master planners. They said they were surprised that the people mover concept was very competitive with a bus system. Right of way needed for about three blocks along St. Landry about 14 houses or so if I recall. One step at a time.
