    UL Softball Check Swing

You CANNOT make that call from 1st. It wasn’t even close to a swing

That's a mechanics thing. Per the CCA manual, U1 is always responsible for a right-handed batter, and U3 is always responsible for a left-handed batter, regardless if either of them is lined up at the B position (near second base).

That’s not what they’ve been doing. I could live with that honestly. They’ve been going directly behind the batter to the umpire staring at their back down the line

Then they changed it again. The CCA manual has flip-flopped over the last few years. I couldn't remember which mechanic they were using this year.

No way an umpire can make a call at first base on a left handed hitter. Absolutely terrible

Solution is get a 4-person crew so either the 1B or 3B umpire could screw the call up anyway.

it is important to remember on a check swing appeal, the home plate ump has already thought it was no swing.

Yes. And so a field umpire, especially one with a horrific angle, should only call a swing if it was totally obvious. Anything remotely close, you say no swing
