How am I supposed to stay immersed in the game if I’m whipping my phone out for every batter to check their stats?

Baseball is more intertwined in statistics than any other sport. Always has been. They tell new fans who the best hitters are. It’s a part of every ballpark in the country that has the capability for it. Rule of thumb: if you’re doing something different than literally everyone else, the onus is on you to explain why, not the other way around

Scoreboard shows outcome of previous at bats. It shows score, hits, errors. Just doesn’t show yearly stats. Some people will complain about anything. If Deggs doesn’t want stats shown then stats won’t be shown.

And some people will suck the skin off the d|que until the uppers give them a pat on the head.

I know phones will be used as a distraction, it's just the era we live in.

Still I'm rather surprised to hear you and Jay recommend anything that takes away from the in game experience.

College baseball has always been my favorite sport and a lot of that has to do with stats. I think many serious fans are of the same mind. Don't like it. End of story, but then again just seems like one more tiny thing that keeps driving me away from enjoying sports in general.

There's 100 other ways for Deggs to reinforce the Pack mentality without tampering with gameday experience. IMO the scoreboard is there for the fans and is a part of the atmosphere. I know the people and friends I sit around like to look up and comment on the stats. That works a little differently if it's not there for all to see, and individuals are looking it up on their phones. The more important distinction: you people do realize it isn't anti-Deggs or anti-UL to disagree with a decision Deggs makes right?
