Thread: Seedings for Conference Tournament

  1. #1

UL Basketball Seedings for Conference Tournament

    For the women:

They will be either the #6 or #7 seed, meaning they will play the evening session on Wednesday. (either 5 or 730)

    For the men:

They are currently the #3 seed. A win Friday guarantees them no worse than the #3 seed. A loss, combined with a JMU win over Georgia State, would make the Cajuns the #4 seed.

The Cajuns will be seeded #2 with a win and a loss by either Marshall (at ODU) or Southern Miss (at Texas State.) The Cajuns would win the tiebreaker against either Southern Miss or Marshall).

With a win and losses by BOTH USM and Marshall, there would be a three way tie for the title and the Cajuns would claim the #1 seed and the auto NIT bid.

The good thing is no matter what happens tomorrow, we have a double bye and don't play until Saturday, which is big. If we would wind up in the NIT, do you think there would be a chance of a home game?

That would depend on if LSU decides to accept an invite...then we would play at the PMAC.

LSU will not qualify for the NIT.

Think State tied their program record for consecutive losses before winning last night.

HIGHLY unlikely. Top 4 teams in each bracket are seeded and host first round.

I was making reference to how we had to play in BR last time we got into the NIT.

We all know the Cajuns were sent to Baton Rouge despite having a higher NET ranking, larger facility and better average attendance that year, but that has nothing to do with this season. LSU won't qualify for the NIT so your point has no relevance to the question, re: whether the Cajuns will host an NIT game.

    That's funny. . . . soooo close to true.

    Thanks Jay for the breakdown
    Let’s win this game tonight!
    Geaux Cajuns!
    Pack the dome!

    Who
Gets to keep the SBC trophy if it’s a tie?
