He was supposed to end all what, the tribalism? How do you convince Softball, Baseball and Basketball fans that Football drives the wagon if they aren't convinced after watching football go 9-4 four consecutive seasons under Hudspeth and two recent seasons finishing nationally ranked under Napier? He's an AD, not a therapist.
I don’t think our contract with ESPN plus allows independent streaming.
It was opening day for everyone. You had new personnel upstairs that were doing their first ever game.
Technology sometimes fails through no fault of humans.
And, while Turbine thinks he knows what things cost, he doesn't. To produce a second game while one is already on the plus is upward of $30,000.
MAT that “true” freshman pitcher was 22 years old. Still, slightly concerning that he shut us down, but just wanted to make that distinction.
I’ll address the stuff at the Tigue since that falls totally under the category of “Things We Can Control.” I don’t know whose fault it is. Not ready to blame Maggard. But this just adds to a long list of little things not being taken care of properly and boxes not being checked across all sports. Is the product on the field ultimately paramount? Yes. However, we make it incredibly hard to be a fan, and thus, we don’t retain or attract new fans. New people have come to a UL event and encountered: long, unmoving entry lines because ticket scanners are broken, spending 30 minutes getting a beer, concession card readers down, concession areas closed, dirty seats, broken PA systems, the same god awful rave songs (if you can call them that) blasting at every football and basketball game, among many other things I’ve forgotten. Do you think the average people are going to remember whether we won or lost and want to return based on that? Probably not. They’ll remember the fact that they didn’t have a good experience. We have got to do a better job of making it easier to be a FAN. Everything from better advertisement and communication, to making sure you can buy a freaking shirt in this town that doesn’t say Lafayette on it and doesn’t look like it was made by a 5 year old or cost $120.
If these were "new personel" were they trained before last night? Did someone check to see if the sound system was working properly before last night? USLing it!
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out how to press a freaking button for a ball and a button for a strike. It doesn't take an Global IT professional to make the sound work properly. As others have said, these things fall under the list of little things we can do to not step on our own d|ques every now and then.
There is always a freaking excuse as to why we can't get the small things correct. Don't care if it was the first time or the 10,000th time (kinda like on field interviews), FIGURE IT THE ____ OUT.
