Pitching is all about location. We witnessed it all weekend in softball and baseball, I don't care how good your stuff is if you can't pitch effectively in the zone. You can occasionally get away with pitching and missing the target if you have elite stuff. But eventually it will catch up with you.
Gotta hit those spots

The pitching this weekend was definitely concerning.
I wouldn’t rule out the fact that some of the guys were making their first D1 appearances, some others their first as Cajuns, and all of them their first of the season.
Hopefully that anxiety and nervousness dwindles as they make more appearances.
Also, looking back just one year, guys’ roles will likely change dramatically as the season goes on, and things will work themselves out as best they can.
Finally, while Rice may not be a very good team, even with some atrocious numbers on the pitching side, the team was able to win 2 of 3 in a road series.
