BB G3 Final: Louisiana 8, Rice 12

Yes, it is early ... but we saw the same problems Friday and Saturday with the three ball counts and free passes (17 walks and 1 HBP). The difference being that Rice was able to hit the ball today.

A total of 24 Rice hitters LOB in the first two games and 14 today (38 in the series) is too many runners on base and too many pitches thrown. A better hitting team would have converted more opportunities.

Hopefully the strike throwing will improve considerably. As good as the lineup seems to be, they are going to be staring down some good arms in the Sun Belt ... especially vs. USM and Texas State.

This has been a problem for going on 4 years now, not just this weekend. If you cant recruit top tier arms, you better be able to coach them up. We havent been able to do either the past few years.

I know this is an overreaction for week one, but if this is an indication of Sunday pitching, the 4th game against BYU is going to be nuts.

BYU has won 2 of 3 so far from LA Tech, outscoring them by a lot. Game 4 of the series is Monday.

The following week the Campbell Camels are in town for 3. They won 41 games last year.
