Down 12-7, going to 9th. Rice has broken it open.
We stink
HR.
Cajuns lose 12-8. On the positive side, we took 2 out of 3 on the road.
The pitching must be addressed. Everything else looks good early.
Yes, it is early ... but we saw the same problems Friday and Saturday with the three ball counts and free passes (17 walks and 1 HBP). The difference being that Rice was able to hit the ball today.
A total of 24 Rice hitters LOB in the first two games and 14 today (38 in the series) is too many runners on base and too many pitches thrown. A better hitting team would have converted more opportunities.
Hopefully the strike throwing will improve considerably. As good as the lineup seems to be, they are going to be staring down some good arms in the Sun Belt ... especially vs. USM and Texas State.
