Something with the varsity network, was hopping back a pitch or so in the bottom of the ninth.
Has anyone been dismissed from their job over this cluster F$&! yet?
I am not aware of ANY job that will allow the same type
of failure for over 5 years without heads rolling to add replacements who have answers that can correct these issues.
Why does it continued to be acceptable year after year?
What am I missing here?
At least we won opening day with a good nail biter until the end. ON THE ROAD!!!
The things i saw we did poorly tonight are the same things that we did poorly for 3/4 of the season last year. We can not continue to accept that and expect to win. Take away 2 innings and we played well enough to win. I know its only game 1 but the same reoccurring Issues gotta get fixed
Great game! nice contingent is UL fans. Rice is better than last year, but they had to be.
Very entertaining game
It appears the team is as advertised. Offense is the strength. Looks like pitching will need some weathering to get consistent.Overall, a good opening night game. We will just need to figure out how to win games while the team gets its footing (as they did last night). I am a happy camper now that baseball is here.
Few observations:
1) Our baseball fan base owns Houston area fanbases
2) That's about as bad a defensive performance (minus CJ and that nice play by JT at 2nd) as we'll see all year.
3) It was windy and cold. Not an excuse, but a factor.
4) Rice has dramatically improved on the hill. Offense is still anemic. We gave them 3 of their 4 runs.
5) Even though the bullpen walked way too many, I liked the approach. Thought Ben Tate and Theut got squeezed a bit down the stretch.
6) Really really like Moody's stuff, as I have since I saw him in the fall.
7) Not sure if Veillon missed a sign, batter missed a sign or the Rice catcher is a freak, but that first out at 2nd in the 3rd can not happen and totally changed the inning.
8) Heath Hood seems to be ready for a bust out year. I know we've said it on the pod over and over, but he is severely under appreciated.
9) CJ has got to stay at 1st base. That was big league defense.
10) Most of our quality ABs came from guys not named, Brock, Rocc or Debo last night. That is a good sign early in the season.
1-0 at the end of the day. On the road. In the cold. Against a team that is obviously much better than last year. I'll take it.
