His post was about membership not brand. Who the members were. Someone else ??? made it about brand.

His post also hinted at who Louisiana was playing back then.

Lafayette defined as the "Hub City" would fit under the definition of metropolitan

I’m asking the old heads here, Boomers in particular…did the Cajuns have a shot, dare I say, reject an invitation into the Metro 30+ years ago?

I ask because these teams in the south remind me of the games I attended as a kid at Cajun Field in the ‘80s.
You are thinking of C-Usa in the late 80's when Tulane and others were members. Contrary to popular belief, Tulane had a few money people that did oppose UL, but we were told $1M would get it done. The fossil killed any chance by refusing to pay the money.

Well, on the other hand, it may have taken 37 years, but Louisiana is now a Tier One University with a huge banner hanging in the Cajundome!

Thats freaking great! But, it does not mean ____ to non academic folks! It sure is not filling up the Cajundome with a 20 plus win team!

Two more ironic million dollar stories involving Authement.

    1) When Authement moved David Walker to Reinhart Drive one of the first things he did was miraculously find a cool million bucks no one knew about just sitting in the coffers (found was DW's word, miraculously is mine)

    2) When Authement was presented with a larger than life one million dollar check at mid field he didn't crack a thank you smile. (Steve Gossen had secured the donation from Joe Jamail the Pennzoil attorney in a suit against Texaco. Joe Jamail earned his undergrad degree at Louisiana.
