Has USL written all over it! Had we joined that damn conference we would have been in CUSA 1.0. Lord only knows where we would have ended up today. Could be in a watered down AAC…could be the Big12. But you gotta shoot your shot, Dr. A! What a poon.

Depending on who you listen to, Tulane blocked us from getting into the first version of cusa.

So I’ve been told. But that’s only one vote.

….WAS TOLD BY A VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE CONTRIBUTOR!……we were making a financial payment to Tulane for their vote of approval….the payment was stopped by Dr A and the rest history….think the payment was very high for the period, but the backers were willing to put up the funds!

    ‘85 Football Schedule-

    Home:
    Memphis
    Idaho St.
    ECU
    McNeese

    Away:
    Auburn
    LaTech
    Wichita State
    Southern Miss
    Florida
    Nevada
    Tulane

Just feels like a Metro schedule. Our ‘85 basketball schedule was pretty exciting too.
4 home games - two of them against 1-AA teams. That’s not a schedule to be proud of.

Bisides avoiding the trap of judging by today's standards, there are two aspects to consider.

    1) Freshly separated.

    2) Anytime, anywhere.

    Collectors item.
    Fill it to the Brim.

Can we schedule Wichita State again? Should get the win.

Tulane was an original SEC member and left several decades ago. They would be where Vanderbilt is today. One of the worst moves ever. I believe GA Tech was, too, but they ended up OK in the ACC.

Dr. A never missed an opportunity to crush athletic growth.

Our entire athletic department is 2 to 3 decades behind where it should be.

Blowing the Metro invite directly led to not getting a CUSA invite when they were forming that conference.

The statement from the Memphis AD was to the effect of, "I can't sell SW Louisiana to my fan base". That comment would never have been made if we were already Metro members.

From the Death Penalty debacle, to the Metro debacle, to the CUSA debacle, to the pulling funds/Toothpick debacle, to not allowing an independent RCAF debacle, Dr. A did exactly the wrong thing at precisely the wrong time, every time. Had he not done these things, there is no doubt in my mind we would be in the Big 12, right now.

That is really sad to hear but at no surprise. Thanks, Boom.
