Last night was a 2 hour commercial displaying why we should renovate Blackham. It's exactly what I've always said on the topic. And M$M hammered home the point.

Last night we were bad at both made and defended.
There I go again, making assumptions. Thanks for checking me.

Don’t renovate Blackham. Tare it down and replace it if y’all hate the current facility. I’m not in favor of a rebirth. I’ve renovated enough properties to know we can do much better in every aspect with modern engineering, materials, and technology.

Again I love the Cajun Dome, but that’s a different argument for sure.

We've solved this in a previous thread.

Best option for us right now is a new arena with a 10 year window.

I've spent half my life renovating. It's not feasible to spend money on a product that the fanbase doesn't utilize. Spend enough to get the thing inhabitable, play your games for 6-8 years, get the fanbase back with a winning coach, hang some banners, and then fundraise the money for a new basketball only arena.

I know some of yall want to be more comfortable in your seats than you want to win basketball games, but give me what Hattiesburg had all day long over the Cajun Dome. Even with 5351 in attendance, that dump in Hattiesburg was incredible. I'd rather ____ty accommodations and hanging banners than being comfortable and losing.

. . . so the reason we had only about 7500 in the seats for a FB game is CF . . . similar crappy accommodations didn’t seem to bother SM last night . . . probably need to recalculate . . .

It’s funny, I’m now considering Southern Miss our primary rival. That didn’t take long. It was LaTech less than 6 months ago.

I think he played well considering the circumstances. When Greg doesn’t take over the second half like he’s been doing and Garnett only gets 3 shots you get what you saw last night. Too many missed shots point blank at the rim. I don’t think we are a soft team but USM bullied us when it mattered.

As for the environment, it sure reminded me of the old lakefront days against UNO and Tim Floyd. 8k in a barn is a treat to witness(blackham anyone?). Being involved all game is a treat to witness. A student section that takes over the area a is a treat to witness. They fed off of that crowd. I’ve said this too many times over but home court advantage is real. Fan interaction with the players is real.

With that being said, we led the majority of the game and let that one slip away. I believe it was about the ten minute mark where things went south. We played about as bad as we could and still had our chances. I think USM put EVERYTHING into this game. From the crowd to the players. They blew their wad. We meet them in Pensacola we win. Period.
I agree that they put everything into this game and may very well overlook ulm Saturday. At least I am hoping so!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... but I would think the Cajuns win the tie-breaker over USM should they falter one more game than the Cajuns down the stretch, by virtue of Cajuns win over Marshall vs. the USM loss to them (common opponent highest in conference standings - assuming Marshall maintains their grip on 3rd). If the Cajuns can win out, still got a chance to win the league.

My biggest concern for this team is Fulks. Dude has proven himself over the course of the season, but dude plays A LOT of minutes. That worries me over the long haul. If he goes down we are toast. And can he sustain? God bless Thomas, but he ain't Fulks.

. . . my heart missed a few beats when Fulks went down behind the goal in the second half and stayed down out of site . . . it was like who is going to carry and distribute the ball . . . fans can complain about him but there are 10 times more reason to compliment his play than complain about it . . .

probably half of the student section was all of the other school teams that had a "mardi gras" parade at halftime, Saturday you will again be able to pick your seat there as they did their big push for the game against us. I know how games are there I have friend that have season tickets to several different USM sports and a daughter at school there and her boyfriend is the sports editor on campus and has to be at almost all sporting events on campus. Last night was not the rule, its been so bad that my daughter and a friend of mine were allowed to sit in floor seats just so it would look like there were people at a basketball game. Their average is similar to ours and last year they averaged around 500 a game. USM is just pushing that UL is their big rivalry and give away the house to get people to games against us. AKA six dollar tickets to the football game game that brought in every low class dirt bag in that county. or last night highly reduced seats for the double header.

The building of real rivalries is the most important thing that can happen in the Sunbelt. It improves atmosphere, attendance and increases performance. This what we missed for such a long time. Marshal, Coastal, App State, GA State and USM will hopefully turn into heated rivalries. It will make Cajun fans passionate again.
