…….Why shouldn’t we try for the Big12 now? Hey we are there academically…..we are a good geographic….we have played and can play with these guys if we sell the culture to get the fans back against this competition…..the recruiting will jump up as the competition increases

What if I told you we can recruit Houston without Rice in our conference.

    My thinking as well.

Worth it just for publicity sake.

    All good points Mr. Boomer.

It definitely would not hurt to keep lines of communication open and ask for feedback, but I don't see anything possible here until we rebuild the stadium and get out season ticket sales up.

100%, Boom and I’m all for it! I mentioned earlier on this thread that unless we get a P5 invite, the SBC is the best possible option for Louisiana.

…..So we need state money as it was state funded and seems it would be some state monies for fixing or rebuilding…..We need local money like the 6 month sales tax to put in for our ACADIANA SCHOOL…..THEN ITS TIME TO CHALLENGE THE STUDENTS FOR THEIR VOTE ON A SMALL FEE! Let’s get us all in the project!

I don’t know how to get a poll thread started, but I’d love to see how everyone feels about staying in the SBC or moving to the new AAC once SMU leaves. Assuming an invite is extended of course.

This will not be funded on the backs of students. Tuition is already $6,000 plus a semester! Time for community to step up. Time for University to get serious about athletics.

With all these moving pieces, sometime I wonder if we shouldn't just make a public declaration that we are going to be in the Big 12, then see what happens.

Running a poll is excellent idea. I understand and agree with your view the current version of the SBC is a good place to be. However we may see as much realignment, media money driven change over the next 20 years as we have the past 20 years. We're lucky the SBC stabilized and landed on its feet during the most recent big change. Its unlikely the SBC nor other conferences' membership will remain static for long in this environment. I'm under no illusion the SBC East schools could be 'Atlantic 18' schools down 10 years from now. Babb/Heisman said it best in a previous post, these are 20 year decisions. We need to be flexible and ready in case a better opportunity arises just like any other ambitious school.

Maybe just put up a big 12 banner and the flags of our big 12 colleagues

I firmly believe that we are low-hanging fruit in the conference realignment discussions. Arizona State, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Oregon State and Washington State will eventually be part of the Big 12. We do not have the resources to make that jump. Mountain West leftovers will merge with PAC-12 leftovers. Oregon and Washington will go to the Big 10. We stay where we are. American is the only move we might have. Sorry to burst your bubbles.
