There were a lot of things that made last night work. And, the Chicken was only a part of it.

There was a one sheet distributed in the student section last night. It gave some information about the opponent and its players and orchestrated how to react to certain situations.

For about 18 months, we didn't have a leader in the promotions department. But when UL hired Sam Demuzio, we took a big step forward. (Sam is now the one sitting in the end zone who is playing the music after the last guy quit/was fired.) He's got four others on the staff who do so much getting ready for, and on, gameday. The oldest will be 24 years old this week. They're young and enthusiastic. And, now they have great direction. Sam is still learning about our traditions. But there's no question we've taken a big step forward. And, I think it's just the beginning.

Oh, and shoutout to the men's basketball staff for purchasing the Red Dot tee shirts that the first 100 students got.

I don't know the details of the Red Dot purchase but the Rebounders Club account was tapped to buy student T Shirts in previous games. Members are OK with using funds in that way. It may build fans for the future.

Nice to see a scholar athlete attending and supporting the game here instead of to the East.

Back in my day, we had to find out the names of players’ girlfriends and sisters the old fashioned way. Kids these days… so spoiled.

Seriously though, this is good stuff

Thanks for the incite Jay. The rest of the crowd really fed off of what the students were doing. It starts and ends with the students, the future alumni of this great University. Without students we wouldn’t have UL. Everything was on point and amazing last night. You could tell a lot of work went into it. This can be done every game. It’s what us fanatics have been preaching. It can be done and is being done.
    It takes an Army!

My son, a student called yesterday and asked “what are the Red Dots again, I remember you telling me about them when I was younger”. So I explained how they were the students in Blackham that sat in the bleacher seats around the court. I told him about how they would pretend to read the newspaper when the other team was being introduced to act as if that they weren’t interested and then ball the paper up and throw it when it was time for the cajuns to be introduced. I told him they should do that tonight. Then after thinking I said y’all get all your news on your phone now a days. He said yep I wouldn't know where to find a newspaper.

Times have certainly changed since the original Red Dots.

Does anyone have an original Red Dot shirt? I think they were purchased at Albertsons.
