Some of you guys need to give it a damn break. Martin Hall controls what can be done. Sodexo…Martin Hall, not the athletic department. Local vendors, Martin Hall and contract violation with Sodexo. Lack of game day staff, funding not released by Martin Hall.

Yet, many people come in here and complain about the athletic department. They can only do what they are allowed to do. They want to run athletics like a business while operating under the control of people who have zero business or marketing sense.
. . . Some peoples chilren never understand . . . Because it’s hard to understand when all you are interested in doing is complaining . . . this site has a pandemic of Complaintants who are very religious at showing up . . .

I keep reading that all our fails are due to MH....then I read that MH, coaches, Athletic Dept heads etc read and post on RP...I don't believe much of either one as the same issues keep popping up year/season after season, many of them pre Covid.
Creativity and good ideas cost nothing...we have the assets already to fix most of these issues. Creativity, hard work, and a will to be successful is what's missing.

Proved last night...when a "name" opponent is in town and it's heavily promoted, with just a touch of "star power" it works...23 games into the season before any major promotion and excitement generated...and to do that is not a huge budget buster by any means...creativity and some hard work...

Loved his entry... Came out as an old man with a WALKER! LOL. Quickly got rid of the walker and went into his Michael Jackson moves... And then later - the hot air balloons to spy on the other team. Classic and timely! Certainly adds to the atmosphere. Will be hard to replace Russel inside of that costume, though.

This is a forum! This forum is partly used to vent certain things the administration, coaches etc. do.

If they can’t take constructive criticism on a athletic forum then this may not be a job for you. All I am saying is the administration and athletics or whoever is in control needs to make things happen.

Yep. We get to have opinions here. Here's mine

No. No. A thousand times no about making the chicken the official mascot.

The man inside the suit is eligible for Medicare. And, it's the man inside the suit that makes things happen, not the suit itself. If you want the man inside the suit to die before his time, by all means have at it.

Yes, we need a mascot. And, no, I don't have the answer as to what is best.

But it doesn't need to be a chicken.

Whatever the mascot winds up being, it will be the man (or woman) inside the suit that will make it thrive or fail.

Oh, and we do NOT need a live mascot.

The Chicken should be the mascot. A student should get a full scholarship for the mascot.

He/she should apprentice under the current guy. It’s a tradition and one we should foster.

I agree with most of this. But it's time to move past a chicken.

Yes I thought the idea with the balloons spying versus using the satellite dish from the shower curtain was great!
New ideas, new gimmicks really keeping up with the times.
I think he would be great if he came out with a couple of small children in duplicate costumes. put them in a honey I blew up the kids machine and out comes 2 adult college students dressed as the sons or grandsons of the fabulous cajun chicken.
From there you have a team of chickens and Russel can then mentor them for future generations.
