I'm hearing stories saying he had committed to the Cajuns.
His wiki page says he was only offered by Middle Tennessee.

The quarterback transferred to Jones County Junior College, opting for more playing opportunities. There, he led the team to a 10-2 record, a Mississippi Bowl win, and the MACJC conference championship game. He completed 145 passes for 1,840 yards and 16 touchdowns plus 148 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.
For his JUCO performances, Stetson Bennett almost joined the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. But once again, he bet on himself as he went back to Georgia, this time with a scholarship.
This was after his first year at Jones.
They went on and on about him being a walk on initially?
More of a problem in baseball, but time and time again i wished for and have asked for transparency as to who are walk ons who is partial who is full, etc etc etc.
For some that they claim are walkons or on partial scholarship I doubt youd find any cancelled checks laying around the registrars offices from mommy and daddy
In baseball I would deem whether someone is a walkon or on full scholarship more as a level of skill than an actual money issue…. I.e. NCAA wanted a somewhat level playing field so said you can only have this many players from that skill level, not necessarily you can only give away this much money. When someone is a first round pick (probably up to fifth or seventh) they should count as a full scholarship spot whether they actually were or not.
So this was his “free” extra year because of covid, fascinating how that worked out….
What are people’s thoughts on everyone adding jr to their name on back jerseys, or the second or third, or in this case the fourth…. if you are only one on team with that name I’d say no, only needed to differentiate
oooops….. In first grade, his family moved from Atlanta to Nahunta, Georgia. In eighth grade, his family moved to Blackshear, Georgia, where he played high school football at Pierce County High School…. (good thing it wasnt a transfer to a christian high school.)
great point. especially not something a college teenager should be bragging about in most cases. Im old enough to remember when if that happened you had to go to work and give up football, I guess that since they dont that proves the big boys have been paying long before NIL
They should have added a scene to “All the right moves” where the reporters are grilling Coach Robinson at USC about why Brian Riley from Ampipe, PA decommitted
