While watching the Florida bowl game the announcers said that Bennette committed to the Cajuns and Napier went to bed thinking he was coming only to have UGA make him an offer the DAY of signing. That morning he called Napier and told him the news. Accordingly, Bennette took the opportunity to go back to UGA since he was a lifelong bulldog fan and had always dreamed of playing there. Can't fault the guy. He fought for his dream and got it.

The quarterback transferred to Jones County Junior College, opting for more playing opportunities. There, he led the team to a 10-2 record, a Mississippi Bowl win, and the MACJC conference championship game. He completed 145 passes for 1,840 yards and 16 touchdowns plus 148 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.

For his JUCO performances, Stetson Bennett almost joined the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. But once again, he bet on himself as he went back to Georgia, this time with a scholarship.

He was offered to be put on scholarship if he enrolled at UL. He committed to Bily Napier and Kirby heard that he had committed to UL, probably through his father and offered him a PWO opportunity. There was offered a scholarship if he enrolled, not sure if it would have not been until August which means he would have been put on a grant during the summer.

You just stated it, if you are already on scholarship I don't believe you can apply for a grant. If you apply for a grant, once you are put on scholarship it can help pay the grant back. That's what I was told when it comes to athletics.

wow, interesting… but many on full athletic scholarship still qualify for pell Grant, not sure what this particular summer grant os though?
