Look at what the University of Houston has built over the last 10 years.

Their the top basketball program in the country and they're a G5 program.

They made a commitment to their facility and coaches.

I would love to see UL go after Kellen Sampson or Quannas White as their next MBB head coach.
It isn’t about commitment, it’s about money. Commitment doesn’t build facilities, money does. They were able to secure $25 million dollars to build a first class basketball practice facility and another $60
million to renovate their basketball arena. Most of that money came from a billionaire donor. And no telling how many millions they are paying players through NIL deals.

Meanwhile, by far the largest donation we could get for our football stadium is $15 million over 15yrs. from OLOL.

Our “little brother” got the commitment and the money for a facility. We can’t hope to compete with that though.

Not sure if serious. If so, where is this person(s) hiding?

Who is’ our little brother’? If McLeast they’re not our little brother, but that basketball arena is because Lake Charles got blown away and FEMA money is pouring into the city.

The Legacy Center has ONE donor make a 2.5M donation over 10 years. The “sky boxes” Navarre Automotive donated those rights.

It’s a 45M building. It was crushed in 2020 by Hurricane Laura.

Much like our “friends” in Ruston, the progress they show in infrastructure is directly related to FEMA, not the benevolence of donors.

On a side note the Ruston area, AKA the best place to relieve oneself between Jackson and Dallas, appears to be getting a Buc-ees.

The original Legacy Center was state funded, included classrooms in the building. We got ours already, abet 2 buildings…the CD and Bourgeois Hall.

Lafayette and Baton Rouge made it too hard for Buccee’s a couple years ago and they said to hell with it . . .

Did not even get off the ground here. The flood zone restrictions near Gonzales killed it for BR.

Considering the facility was built in 2017 and McNeese began playing games there in 2018, which storm’s FEMA money are you saying built the facility?

    I think a hurricane damaged the new building . . . that may be the confusion . . .

I imagine it would be difficult for us to get state funds to build a new basketball arena after we just used state funds to renovate our current basketball arena.

FEMA money, with some state funds.

We are basically bonded out with on campus facilities. This is why we are having to raise more funds for the stadium renovations. It will have to be constructed with a smaller amount of bonds.
