Just food for thought. If we want to explode as an athletic department, it's not through football. Mid majors make it in basketball. A consistent NCAA tournament program translates into $$$$ in terms of tournament money as well as exposure. Basketball is where we build. Not football or diamond sports. (and I am a baseball first and foremost fan - basketball may be my least favorite sport)

MBB is only consistent in playing weak teams and padding Marlin resume.

Not saying they do it now. Building a successful program that consistently makes noise in the ncaa tourney will be the best ROI of any sport. It starts with moving on from Mr. Momentum Killer Big Fish.

Edit: An investment in Blackham could pay time and time over.

I agree. You only need 3-4 premier athletes on your roster to make a deep tournament run.

Look at what the University of Houston has built over the last 10 years.

Their the top basketball program in the country and they're a G5 program.

They made a commitment to their facility and coaches.

I would love to see UL go after Kellen Sampson or Quannas White as their next MBB head coach.

We know BB isn’t part of the in crowd at UL.

Just a guess, but I assume you'd need a lot less infrastructure for streaming than a traditional broadcasting setting up. The west side of Blackham can easily be renovated and built out to support a small press box. Most media are on the floor in basketball anyway.

Edit: Tillman Fertitta made a commitment to their entire athletic program.

We had a product, for sure. But not a top notch.

Cajun football the last 3 years was still substantial underdog and expected to lose to all P5 programs we faced.

The Blackham basketball days, that team was expected to win no matter the opponent. Period.

    2 completely different products.

We have our own version(s) of Tillman. We are not serious people, so we will not get those commitments.

Wait…the McLeast crowd in fall ‘21 was swearing TF was going to throw all kind of coin at them.

Don’t fool yourself…that freed up money will disappear just like when Napier left. It’s the USL way.

And we will play the same basic schedule.

Winning consistently will be goal, since wing changes everything.

BBoyd is tenacious and will not let it happen that way . . .
