good post boomer, but the problem in comparing the two is that R1 had a set of objective criteria, “acceptance” into P5 does not. Also i dont believe that peer level institutions can hold a blackball vote to keep someone out of R1 or that any other institutions vote on such matters at all, as the criteria is objective.
If old memory serves me pooch’s official name was King Gee Omicron V. Or Gee 5. I’ll have to check in my yearbooks. Bulldogs were kept in private homes. No Vet school and all here.
not sure official name, as the alumni house is the johnston st one? but there was another alumni house catty corner to the church and that had an apartment in the back,and the dog and the dog’s keeper (a student) lived there. sort of like a room and board scholarship for taking care of the dog.

The only spirit leader that has almost universal acceptance is The Fabulous Cajun Chicken. UL should do everything possible to purchase that whole act. Pay him to train and oversee the current embodiment. Also develop an app to retain the institutional knowledge for the future.
