Per your link, it's showing him enrolled at Southern Miss.
That was actually me, but I posted it in response to Fan and accidentally posted it in the body of the message so it looked like Fan did it. I have since corrected that.
Keyes played in 4 games in 2021, then this year he was competing for the starting job and got hurt again. He has played in 7 games in 2 seasons for the Golden Eagles. Kid is athletic as heck, but just can't stay healthy. In those 7 games he has thrown 6 TD's but also 6 INT's. He has also rushed for 115 yards on 53 carries, this year he was 13 carries for 60 yards and a TD before he got hurt.
I feel for the young man, out of HS he was ranked as the #7 dual threat QB in the country by ESPN, he was Mississippi Gatorade Player of the year and amassed 14,525 yards and 155 TD's while in HS at Taylorsville HS in Mississippi. His Senior season alone he accounted for 36 TD's between throwing and rushing.
His offer list included USM, Tulane, Auburn, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon and Mississippi Valley State out of HS. 247 has him as the 17th top recruit ever by USM and that is saying allot. Had he signed with us out of HS, he would be listed as the 2nd highest recruit we had ever signed. Just ahead of Harvey Broussard that we signed this season and behind Lorenzell Dubose that we signed last year.
In talking with several coaches that know him well that are not at UL, it's not just the injuries that have delayed his development, but his inability to transition from the offense he ran in HS, to more multiple concepts. He is talented, but the handwriting was on the wall at Southern Miss, he is not the young QB they are committed to long term.
I don't see him as an option at UL considering the commitment to Zeon Chriss and the return at this point of Fields and Woolridge.
