You would give me $100,000 a year. I would raise that in 2 months … The people of this city and the basketball community really mess with me. I raised 10K in one week at WESTGATE. I’m way more than just the next coach of UL…. Way more… It ain’t even about the money for me… It’s about what UL basketball really means to me. The reason I chose to stay home and play here. Stayed in the community here, had an impact on 1000s of kids over the last 15 years. Go walk around the cajundome ring of honor, the most excitement we have had in that binding in the last 23 years was when I was playing 1999-2005. You won’t see a picture of any of my guys, that’s played in that era. You don’t have pictures of DWAYNE MITCHELL, LAUREE BRIDGES, BRIAN HAMITLON, TIRAS WADE, ANTOINE LANDRY, BLANE HARMON, LONNIE THOMAS and many other greats. Thats been the disrespect. Trust me i’ve been waiting 13 plus years to get back. I’ve been grinding and waiting for the time. When it comes i’m ready. I’ve never been a head coach in college correct, but i’ve coached players at BIDDY ball to pro players in the TBT tourney. It’s the relationship and the relatability you have with them… I get the most out of whoever I coach, and when the ball stops bouncing l, i’m still coaching them in life. Nobody can sell Lafayette and Ragin Cajun Basketball like me, period. #GeauxCajuns BB
Ahhh my college years, man the 99-2005 years in the Cajun Dome were awesome. You just had to be there. Remember the Dunk fest games. Dwayne Mitchell was a man of men. Brian Hamilton was one of the best. Don’t forget about Michael Southall and Orien Greene as well.
