Thread: Damar Hamlin

    People Damar Hamlin

What I saw tonight with Damar Hamlin in the Bills-Bengals game is by far the scariest thing I’ve ever seen in football. Prayers up for him.

It looked like a normal hit. There have been much more “scarier” hits which makes this so confusing. Hoping and praying for the kid

Some times when a person goes into cardiac arrest the EMT will perform a sharp blow to the chest before giving them a shock. The opposite is true. A sharp blow to the chest can cause cardiac arrest. I'm thinking this could have happened in this case.

    Possibly this…most common in baseball.

Understand they shocked him on the field and was intubated.

Though odds are he’ll remember very little if anything of the actual event, the best thing he has going for him besides God’s grace is being young and fit.

Don’t let the talking heads mislead you with “this has never happened before”. Chuck Hughes, Detroit, died on the field in ‘71, heart attack, undetected blockage. Late 4th quarter, they completed the game.

Prayers for all impacted. He has a good chance of getting thru this.

The act of shocking the heart into a rhythm causes damage by itself. There are many reasons why a second arrest happened that could have nothing to do with any inflammation caused by the vaccine.

Commotio cordis is a very freaky and one in a million thing, but it does happen, and it sure looked like that is what happened from the film of the play.

Looked for yourself how many soccer players have collapsed on the field in the last 2 years with cardiac arrest, remember they don’t tackle in soccer.

All involved knows exactly what caused DH’s heart attack by now. HIPPA is in play, unless the family spokesman tells the media, it’s all pure conjecture.

He is pretty much where I thought he’d be as far as the recovery process. Guessing he’ll get off the vent early next week, off the “milk of amnesia” around the weekend. Really think the prompt aid will let him recover, abet any heart damage.

As far as multiple codes, anything can happen. I personally coded 5 times, 3 before the blockage was addressed, twice after. Of course, I wasn’t aware, but my family was.

It’s a blessing years later to meet the nurse who intubated me while in the elevator on the way to surgery. Things happen as HE plans.

I pray DH receives similar blessings.

Please remember as you pray, neither side of the bed rail is “fun” at time like these.

Just for clarification here, Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest.

A heart attack is when blood flow to the heart is blocked. Sudden cardiac arrest is when the heart malfunctions and suddenly stops beating.

Which can be caused by myocarditis.

One possible cause is V-Tach. One of the symptoms is sudden death. I had it long ago and was lucky.
