Always watching.......
I know quite a few here will disagree with me, but there should have been a talking to by the administration to Marlin after that season ended.
Won 27 games…awesome. He then decided to talk some smack before the first round of the NIT only to get punked by Will Wade. Keep your mouth shut and coach the game.
He only said what all of us were saying at the time as well. And he wasn’t demeaning lsu. He was saying we had a higher RPI, a better record and a nicer “gym”. I thought at the time he was building up our program in a classy way. It was __________bag will wade who made a fuss out of it. Yeah maybe he should have kept quiet but he was taking up for our university and team, and I’ll never get mad at that.
You know,he was right . . .
.500 In conference. Watch.
It was the year after when red flags starting popping up. When we were losing to teams and hearing postgame interview clips such as “they are celebrating like they won’t the Super Bowl because that’s what it’s like to beat the Ragin’ Cajuns,” or calling us “the standard” of the conference or even bringing up winning 27 games the year before when we were deep into the second half of the season. You can tell that 27-win season caused complacency which still lingers today.
Reality check: we aren’t Gonzaga. We are no one’s “Super Bowl.” Just because we lose, it doesn’t mean the other team “played their best game of the season.” Want to be the standard you claim to be? Make the Dance or at least finish in the top 4 of the conference while making a SBC tournament run.
Nobody stealing nothing . . . it’s more of a donation . . .
How funny that Marlin got out coached by the ole timer Cliff Ellis in the last 5 minutes.
