Yes sir I have. Coached and played baseball and softball for many years. I used to be on a travel adult team playing tournaments all over the place.

I didn't play D1 football but I've been a part of plenty of camps. I'm just never going to believe we blew 4th quarter leads because of how 2 weeks of fall camp living arrangements were structured. That's just too easy. What I saw was stupid penalties, mental breakdowns and coaches who over thought the situation (mostly, I'm guessing, because they've never been THE guy in those situations to make THE decision). I've been on the Lamar train since the day the DC position opened - I thought it was chicken bleep to get into a true drop zone on 1st and 30. You just called off the dogs when Houston was on the ropes. Overthought, took the killer instinct out of the boys and ultimately cost us a score there.
You are correct. If think the changes in camp are only about sleeping arrangements and not about setting the tone for the year in being 100% focused on nothing but football for those weeks of camp you are mistaking. It is where you lay the foundation for your mental toughness and discipline for the year. You can’t have kids spread throughout Lafayette during that time and expect them all to be doing the right thing. I am curious to see how that is handled next year.

    1. O’Cyrus Torrence UF All-American
    2. Tyler Brown JSU All-American
    3. King McGowan injured
    4. Landon Burton <100% for most of the year.

Top 4 reasons we didn’t win more than 6 games. We played most of the year with our 2nd string OL.

    Was it a disappointing season…absolutely!

Not true. We still had as much or more talent than any one in the sunbelt. We blew a 17 point lead to the eventual west champion Troy. That wasn’t a talent issue that was a coaching and lack of mental toughness issue. Should have beaten Monroe and So Al with the talent we had on the field also.

Landon Button was the only one in that group that ever made the depth chart this season, so you can’t exactly call the rest of the starters back ups. Our starters with exception of maybe one under sized walk on were as talented as any.

I disagree and didn't see much talent on the O line.

I disagree Thomas, Gillie, Rubio and Harrington had the physical talent as good as any in the league. Now they may not have been coached to play as a unit as well as the rest but that’s a whole different discussion.

Maybe a lack of talent and coaching?

Maybe the later. Although the unit was much better latter in the season.

Also had Harrington and Rubio missed games. Context matters when saying people are making excuses.

It is hard to coach players that are not there . . .
